Life has not been easy for the boys — both were born prematurely at 28 weeks of pregnancy. Toms was born without the lower part of his left leg, while Edžus was diagnosed with cerebral palsy with spastic paraparesis.

The brothers spent the first five months of their lives at the Children’s Clinical University Hospital, where each day was a fight for survival and the future. Their parents never gave up and fought tirelessly for their sons’ health, despite initially pessimistic medical prognoses.

The parents did everything possible to help their sons — countless rehabilitation sessions, medical examinations, consultations, and procedures became part of the family’s daily life, largely carried on the shoulders of both mother and father. Their unity was their strength until tragedy struck — the boys’ father passed away.

The mother was left alone to care for the two young boys. The entire burden now rests on their mother Jana, who devotes herself every day to providing the best possible care and support for her sons.

Edžus has undergone several serious surgeries in the hope that one day he will be able to stand on his own feet and become more independent. Toms’ daily life involves constant adaptation, as he uses a leg prosthesis that requires great endurance and patience.

Despite their health challenges, the boys are bright and curious; they attend school with enthusiasm and strive to participate in various activities and sports events.
